About the Company
Urban Redevelopment Alliance, LLC is located in the Downtown Towers at 200 East Main Street in the Blue Plum Village-Downtown Johnson City. URA was created to promote economic vitality and provide redevelopment services to downtown Johnson City and other urban areas of East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.
URA’s philosophy is to recreate dynamic urban centers, enhancing economic and cultural vitality of the region’s downtowns. URA offers the opportunities, expertise and production capacity to make this happen. We work with property owners in urban areas, helping them to redevelop their properties or partnering with them by offering extensive, collective experience in planning, economic development, urban design, and real estate services. |

Timothy P. Jones, URA Partner A retired newspaper executive, Tim received his AB in Economics from Wofford College and a Masters in Mass Communications from Texas Tech University. He is a former director of the Tennessee Press Association. Long vested in his community through business and civic involvement, Tim has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the JC/J/WC Chamber of Commerce. He is also president of the ETSU Foundation Board of Trustees and director of Peoples Community Bank. Tim chaired the Chamber of Commerce Downtown Task Force which recommended the formation of the Johnson City Development Authority. He was the first chairman of the JCDA Board and has been member of that board since its inception. As a partner in URA, Tim brings the deep roots, experience and networking that ensure URA’s ability to create projects that enhance the numerous resources, character and vitality of the region.

Guy Wilson, URA Partner Educated at UNC Chapel Hill, Milligan College, and UT College of Pharmacy, Guy Wilson grew a family pharmacy business into a regional provider of pharmacy and nursing services. Whether pursuing the Wharton Executive Leadership program or leading the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce as 2003 president, Guy’s leadership in his industry and our region are well documented. Along with being raised in the tree streets, Guy’s roots were established in Johnson City with the first Wilson Pharmacy, established in 1936 and located in the downtown area. With first-hand knowledge of the positive economic impact of both downtown and city-wide development, Guy’s leadership helps URA to carry out its vision and downtown development agenda.

David Pennington, Principal Broker Originally from Bristol, VA, David began his real estate career in 1984 in the Hickory, NC market, was President of Land & Home Associates, Inc., and worked with affordable housing developers throughout the region. Over the past 10 years, his career expanded into the Eastern Caribbean with resort condominium development. His past clients include Pelican Resort & Casino, Divi Little Baye, Four Seasons, Fairfield and Marina Royale. He brings many years of experience in sales & marketing to URA and will be involved in the marketing, brokerage and leasing of mixed-use projects as well as other downtown properties in the Tri-Cities region. David holds a degree in Graphic Design from Concord University in Athens, WV and currently resides in the Blue Plum Village.

BJ Miller, Broker, CCIM With a BS in Interior Design from UT Knoxville, BJ began Visions Design Group in 1992, specializing in corporate, education, healthcare and historic interiors. Opening a branch location in Asheville in 2000, Visions Design Group has been recognized for its commercial project work throughout the southeast region. Whether speaking nationally on the “Knowledge Economy Workplace,” or spending time on community boards, BJ remains focused on a vision for the future of our region. With a passion for revitalization, BJ’s real estate background and expertise in historic preservation and adaptive reuse strengthen URA’s programs and capabilities.

Brandy D. McKinney, Property Manager
Born and raised in Johnson City, TN, Brandy began work with URA in August of 2006. She contributes with a wide range of work experience in real estate sales, service and management. She is currently managing over 197,000 SF of retail, residential, office, condominium associations, and restaurant space in the downtown Johnson City area. Her personal connection with Johnson City helps to drive her determination to see downtown flourish. Brandy is a licensed Real Estate agent, a member of the Institute of Real Estate Management and a Certified Property Manager Candidate. Her dedication and management skills continue to help URA be one of the most recognized entities in the development and promotion of downtown Johnson City.

Terry G. Shanks, Property Services Manager Originally from Rogersville, Terry has been in Property Services for URA since January 2005. His work experience includes specialty woodworking, carpentry, and industrial electrical. He is also a stained glass artisan in his spare time. Terry is responsible for overseeing all property maintenance and tenant improvements for our clients' physical assets and development projects. He attended Walters State Community College in Morristown and U.T. in Chattanooga. For 16 years, prior to joining URA, Terry was Operations Manager for several furniture and design firms in the area, handling all aspects of installation and project management. He currently resides in the Blue Plum Village.
